Synopsis

In November 2004 the Maison des adolescents opened at the Cochin hospital in Paris, a medical unit entirely devoted to young people in distress. Twenty beds, patients aged twelve to nineteen, and a multidisciplinary team gathered around one idea: to treat physical pain and psychological distress in the same place, rather than sending these teenagers from one department to another. The child psychiatrist Marcel Rufo was chosen to run the unit and to conceive its therapeutic approach.

Written and directed by Régis Sauder, the film follows the birth of the project through Marcel Rufo's eyes, and goes to meet those who will be the first to enter the house, among them Benoît, twelve years old and suffering from a muscular disease, to whom the psychiatrist has promised a place. A 52-minute documentary co-produced for France 5 and France 2.
